PRF Hair Restoration Support healthier-looking, fuller hair.

PRF hair restoration uses injectable platelet-rich fibrin prepared from your own blood as part of a personalized regenerative approach to appropriate types of hair thinning.

Because hair loss has many causes, Brisa begins with an individualized evaluation before recommending a treatment plan.

What is PRF for hair?

Platelet-rich fibrin is an autologous platelet concentrate prepared from a small sample of your own blood.

After centrifugation, the selected platelet- and fibrin-containing portion is collected and can be delivered into targeted areas of the scalp as part of a hair restoration treatment plan.

Platelets contain signaling proteins involved in normal tissue repair and cell communication. Researchers are studying how injectable PRF may influence the environment around hair follicles in patients with pattern hair loss.

Hair loss deserves a diagnosis—not just a treatment.

Pattern hair loss, temporary shedding, nutritional issues, hormonal changes, inflammatory conditions and scarring disorders can look similar. Treatment should begin with proper evaluation.

Treatment Planning

Who might consider PRF hair restoration?

PRF is not an automatic solution for every type of hair loss. Candidacy depends on the cause and stage of thinning as well as your overall health.

Pattern Hair Thinning

Injectable PRF is being clinically studied in androgenetic alopecia and female-pattern hair loss.

Early Intervention

Regenerative treatment generally makes the most sense when viable follicles remain rather than in areas of complete longstanding follicular loss.

Personalized Combination Care

Depending on the cause of hair loss, PRF may be only one part of a larger treatment strategy recommended by your provider.

Your Appointment

The PRF hair restoration process.

The preparation uses your own blood and is performed in-office before the PRF is delivered into the planned scalp treatment areas.

01

Evaluation

We discuss your pattern of hair loss, history, goals and whether PRF is a reasonable option.

02

Blood Draw

A small sample of blood is collected for PRF preparation.

03

Centrifugation

The sample is processed using a PRF-specific centrifugation protocol so the desired concentrate can be collected.

04

Scalp Treatment

The prepared PRF is delivered to selected areas according to your individualized hair restoration plan.

Before + After

Hair restoration is a gradual process.

Hair-growth cycles take time. Photography is useful for documenting change, but an individual patient's result does not predict what another patient will experience.

Setting Expectations

Look for progression, not an overnight transformation.

Because hair follicles move through biological growth cycles, visible change is assessed over time.

Your provider will determine when photography, follow-up evaluation or additional treatment makes sense based on your individual plan.

Individual results vary. These images do not guarantee a particular density, growth rate or treatment outcome.

Your Hair Plan

A treatment series built around your response.

There is not one universally accepted PRF hair-restoration protocol.

Published research uses different preparation methods, injection techniques, schedules and follow-up periods. Brisa therefore builds treatment recommendations around your diagnosis, goals and response instead of promising a fixed number of sessions to everyone.

Series Treatment frequency is individualized
Follow-Up Progress may be documented with photography
Maintenance Recommended only when appropriate for your response

Clinical Research

What does current research say about PRF and hair?

Research specifically evaluating injectable PRF for hair restoration is newer and smaller than the broader hair-loss literature. The studies below are included to give patients an evidence-based view of where the field currently stands.

Archives of Dermatological Research · 2025

Injectable PRF in androgenetic alopecia

A clinical study evaluated the short-term therapeutic efficacy and safety of injectable PRF in patients with androgenetic alopecia, adding direct human evidence to the emerging PRF hair-restoration literature.

PRF in female-pattern hair loss

A prospective multicenter randomized clinical trial evaluated injectable PRF in women with female-pattern hair loss and reported improvement in non-vellus target-area hair count during follow-up.

Hair-loss research uses different PRF preparation systems and protocols, and findings from one protocol cannot automatically be applied to every patient or every PRF system. Larger and longer-term studies remain important.
Before Treatment

The first question is why your hair is thinning.

PRF may be useful in selected hair-restoration plans, but it cannot correct every cause of hair loss.

Medical conditions, medications, nutritional deficiencies, hormonal factors, inflammatory scalp disease and other causes can contribute to shedding or thinning.

Your consultation should review:

  • The pattern and duration of your hair loss
  • Family history of patterned hair thinning
  • Current medications and health conditions
  • Previous hair-restoration treatments
  • Scalp health and whether follicles remain viable
  • Realistic expectations for density and timing
  • Other therapies or medical evaluation that may be appropriate
PRF Hair FAQs

Questions before you begin.

Hair restoration should start with understanding the cause of thinning and setting realistic expectations.

What is PRF hair restoration?

PRF hair restoration uses injectable platelet-rich fibrin prepared from your own blood and delivered into selected scalp areas as part of a personalized regenerative treatment plan.

What type of hair loss has PRF been studied for?

Current human studies have evaluated injectable PRF in androgenetic alopecia, including female-pattern hair loss. Other forms of hair loss may require different evaluation or treatment.

Will PRF regrow hair in completely bald areas?

PRF should not be presented as a guaranteed way to recreate follicles that are no longer viable. Candidacy depends on the cause, stage and pattern of hair loss.

How many PRF hair treatments will I need?

There is no single standardized protocol. Treatment frequency is individualized based on diagnosis, treatment plan and clinical response.

When should I expect visible changes?

Hair growth is gradual because follicles cycle through biological growth phases. Follow-up photography and clinical evaluation are more useful than expecting an immediate result.

Is PRF hair restoration permanent?

PRF should not be described as a permanent cure for progressive hair-loss conditions. Long-term planning depends on the underlying diagnosis and individual response.

Is there downtime?

Recovery varies. Temporary scalp tenderness, redness, swelling or bruising can occur after injections. Your provider will discuss aftercare and procedure-specific risks.

How do I know if I am a candidate?

Begin with an evaluation. Your provider can review your pattern of hair loss, scalp health, medical history, medications, previous treatments and goals before recommending PRF.
